Herbie Hancock - Feets Don't Fail Me Now album flac

This is probably the worst of the Herbie Hancock disco albums. Some of the really bad tracks would be OK as instrumentals...or hell, I can even tolerate Herbie's vocoder, since the previous album was decent. But some bean counter decided that it needed male and female accompaniment vocals, which just gives it a sound that has aged poorly and probably sucked even in 1979. "You Bet Your Love" is just awful disco as a result."Trust Me" is a laid-back groove with fewer annoying vocals, a tasteful Rhodes solo, and is somewhat tolerable. "Ready or Not" has a funky beat and a neat chorus melody, but AWFUL vocals. The same fate befalls "Tell Everybody" which starts out cool, but then degrades into disco dreck.One redeeming track is "Honey From the Jar," the only one not made for the dancefloor. And by redeeming, I mean 110% guilty pleasure. It's a slower groove with more of the vocals, but they aren't nearly as bad. The lyrics are embarrassing and probably sexual in nature, but whatever, this is a disco record. Finally, "Knee Deep" is the one mercifully instrumental track, and it's decent. It's the one track where Herbie was allowed to do his thing. It doesn't need the corny horns, but otherwise it's a funky treat.Maybe someone at Columbia can get a hold of the masters for this album and release an instrumental version.
