The Fuse One album was released in 1980, and kicks off with a Ronnie Foster composition titled ‘Grand Prix’ where Stanley Clarke takes the lead, and creates a Jazz (Funk) classic, Other stand out tracks are John McLaughlin’s ‘To Whom It May Concern’ and ‘Taxi Blues’ composed by Stanley Clarke
Fuse One was an exciting forum of NYC musicians of the day, comprising people such as Stanley Clarke, Joe Farrell, Ndugu Chancler, Ronnie Foster, Jeremy Wall and even John McLaughlin and Larry Coryell, not to mention Jorge Dalto, Will Lee, Lenny White, Don Grusin and Victor Feldman ~ a distinguished cast indeed. For my money, the first album remains the better of the two, though Silk isn't at all bad.
