Quicksilver Messenger Service is the debut studio album of Quicksilver Messenger Service, released in 1968. This was Quicksilver Messenger Service's first album, although they had already produced two songs for the soundtrack of the 1968 movie Revolution. The album displays the group's jam sound amidst lighter pop-oriented songs.
Quicksilver Messenger Service. США. Folk Rock Psychedelic Rock.
Quicksilver Messenger Service was one of the most beloved bands form the mid 60’s, where at their best they conveyed bluesy flights of fancy, spurred on by the guitar interplay of John Cipollina and Gary Duncan. Tracking in a a mere thirty-two minutes, which was pretty standard for the day, where the band lays down six numbers of original and cover material, with some of their covers being so original that they outshine their forerunners. With most people knowing Quicksilver from their inspirational spirited freeform effortlessly flowing live album Happy Trails, it’s rather stark to hear this album, made up of music that comes off well, though will a strong sense of controlled orchestration, lacking that easygoing effortless vibe of Happy Trails that lives within the souls of everyone from those mystic nights.
The band achieved wide popularity in the San Francisco Bay Area and through their recordings, with psychedelic rock enthusiasts around the globe, and several of their albums ranked in the Top 30 of the Billboard Pop charts. They were part of the new wave of album-oriented bands, achieving renown and popularity despite an almost complete lack of success with their singles (apart from " Fresh Air ", which reached number 49 in 1970)
