Stockhausen – Momente - Version 1965. Genre: Electronic, Classical. Karlheinz Stockhausen. Momente (1965 Version) (LP).
Momente (Moments) is a work by the German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen, written between 1962 and 1969, scored for solo soprano, four mixed choirs, and thirteen instrumentalists (four trumpets, four trombones, three percussionists, and two electric keyboards). A "cantata with radiophonic and theatrical overtones" (Maconie 2005, 240), it is described by the composer as "practically an opera of Mother Earth surrounded by her chicks" (Stockhausen 1989, 147)
Karlheinz Stockhausen. Westdeutscher Rundfunkorchester Köln. Momente Music by Karlheinz Stockhausen Performed by Martina Arroyo and the Westdeutscher Rundfunkorchester Köln under the direction of Karlheinz Stockhausen. Release Date: 25 May 1966.
This 1965 version, which first appeared on a Wergo LP, comes somewhere between the original and the final 1972 one. While it lacks the theatricality of the opening that Stockhausen later devised, it contains much of the work's most thrillingly inventive writing, as the choruses cheer, clap and play improvised percussion instruments, as well as joining the soprano (Martina Arroyo) in passages from the Songs of Songs, William Blake and an anthropological text, and supported by brass, percussion and two electric organs.

Stockhausen realised the electronic music and participated in these recordings as conductor, performer, sound projectionist, and musical director. He personally mixed down the recordings, mastered them for CDs, wrote the texts and drew the covers.
