Brainbox is a Dutch rock group from the late 1960s/early 1970s. The band was founded in Amsterdam by guitarist Jan Akkerman, drummer Pierre van der Linden and singer Kazimir Lux (Kaz). Their debut single was "Down Man", which established their progressive blues sound. They had several hit singles in the Netherlands, including "Between Alpha and Omega", "Doomsday Train", "Reason to Believe" and "Smile".

Yet the original Brainbox do have qualities somewhat resembling the earlier . Lovecraft, and their eponymous album is a worthwhile collection of musically diverse and eclectic performances. The decent liner notes call this "progressive pop," and in some respects it is, though they shift gears from the Simon & Garfunkel classic "Scarborough Fair/Canticle" to the 17-minute plus original "Sea of Delight," and take lots of other directions in between

BRAINBOX is a Proto-Prog, Progressive Rock artist from Netherlands. Brainbox was formed in 1968 shortly after guitarist JAN AKKERMAN and drummer Pierre van der Linden joined 19 year-old singing prodigy Kazmierz " Kaz " Lux to lay down a couple of demos after the latter had won a talent contest sponsored by the Dutch Record label Bovema.

BRAINBOX is a proto-metal music artist. A few more singles are released, but they can't match with The Russian Spy. Because this lack of success Akkerman disbands the band in 1968.
