Clint Eastwood & General Saint – Two Bad . Label: Greensleeves Records – GREL 24. Format: Vinyl, LP, Album. Absolutely gorgeous album. Not unlike oldschool hip-hop duets, Clint Eastwood & General Saint master the the art of lyrical dialogue to a degree not many deejay duets have reached. Talk About Run" is probably one of the best examples of deejay storytelling comedy. But they can also do it in a serious style - there have been many tributes to the late General Echo, but this one is the most touching. Musicwise, "Two Bad DJ" is really impressive too. Heavy riddims, stripped-down to pure drum and bass, pave the way for the two deejays' lyrical artillery.

Clint Eastwood & General Saint were a reggae deejay duo of the early 1980s, consisting of Clint Eastwood (born Robert Anthony Brammer) and General Saint (born Winston Hislop). Eastwood was already an established solo deejay who had recorded several albums when he teamed up with British deejay Saint. Their first release was "Tribute to General Echo", about the recently killed slack deejay. They hit the UK Singles Chart with their version of "Last Plane (One Way Ticket)" in 1984.
So I get off when these two clowns play it as vaudeville. Trading chants over a fine array of twisted dials and session-man offbeats, they make sex & apocalypse & rockers' roles seem like such a cosmic joke that their rhythmic life can sneak up on you. Rub a dub and what do you get? You get the answer to one of life's stubbornest mysteries-how to come and laugh at the same time.
