Ironically enough, this was also the only album that the group ever got to record at their custom-designed Threshold Studio, given to them by Decca Records head Sir Edward Lewis in the early '70s and built to their specifications, but completed while they were on hiatus and never used by the band until Long Distance Voyager (the preceding album, Octave, having. been recorded in California to accommodate Mike Pinder), before it was destroyed in the wake of Decca's sale to Polygram
Long Distance Voyager is the tenth album by The Moody Blues, first released in May 1981 on the group's Threshold record label. It was the group's first album featuring keyboardist Patrick Moraz (who previously had worked with bands such as Refugee and Yes) in place of co-founder Mike Pinder, who left after Octave in 1978.

Long Distance Voyager is the tenth studio album of The Moody Blues and was released in 1981. The line up on the album is Justin Hayward, Patrick Moraz, Ray Thomas, John Lodge and Graeme Edge. The album had also the participation of B. J. Cole, Pip Williams, Dave Symonds and The New World Philharmonic Orchestra. The lengthy career of The Moody Blues has come in two distinct phases. The first from 1964-67, when they were a tough R&B influenced band, and the second from 1967 to the present, performing a blend of melodic prog/rock and pop/rock utilizing symphonic themes which has been given.
Prelude is a 1987 compilation album by The Moody Blues consisting of non-album singles and rarities. Tracks 1-4 were previously released on singles in 1967 prior to the release of Days of Future Passed. They are the first Moody Blues releases to feature Justin Hayward and John Lodge. Tracks 5 and 6 were released as non-album B-sides. Track 6, "A Simple Game", was later recorded by the Four Tops and (as "Simple Game"), went to in the UK charts in 1972.
The Moodies' 9th album, "Long Distance Voyager" is a pleasant surprise, especially if you're a casual Moody Blues fan who's only familiar with the group's best known work, their original "Core 7" albums of which their fame is based.
