The Moody Blues are an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1964, initially consisting of keyboardist Mike Pinder, t Ray Thomas, guitarist Denny Laine, drummer Graeme Edge, and bassist Clint Warwick. The group came to prominence playing rhythm and blues music. They made some changes in musicians but settled on a line-up of Pinder, Thomas, Edge, guitarist Justin Hayward, and bassist John Lodge, who stayed together for most of the band's "classic era" into the early 1970s.
Blues Rock Progressive Rock.

That pretty much sums up the first phase of THE MOODY BLUES. Their 1965 debut, "The Magnificent Moodies", was your standard British Invasion record; R&B covers and originals from Mike Pinder and Denny Laine that included an earlier hit single, "Go Now". In 1967, Justin Hayward and John Lodge replaced Laine and Rod Clarke, and what followed was the stunningly original "Days of Future Passed".

The Moody Blues best albums. No wonder some of the great artists of the 70s used this instrument extensively to enrich their sound. Of course, The Moody Blues were capable of writing beautifully sed pop. But the Mellotron will always be their signature.
The Moody Blues, who are still helmed by Lodge, Edge and Hayward (whose voice, like that of the Monkees' Micky Dolenz and Bad Company's Paul Rodgers, simply laughs in the face of age), are currently hitting the road to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Days of Future Passed. That's the album-recorded with the London Festival Orchestra-that spawned "Tuesday Afternoon" and "Nights in White Satin"-lush, sweet-sounding songs that turned out to be just the tip of the Moodies' innovative, complex and ornate iceberg
