The Philharmonic Chorale was founded in 1925, and is affiliated with Illinois Central College as a Chorus in-residence.
Robert Shaw (1916-1999) founded his Chorale in 1948 in New York City. Years earlier he had been tapped by the famous big band master Fred Waring to conduct his Glee Club that performed with the band on it's radio broadcasts. The Chorale was notable for it's homogeneity of tone, finely wrought balances between vocal sections, elegance of phrasing and rhythmic vitality. During it's existence it was the most widely respected professional choral organization in the United States.
Atlanta Rhythm Section is the 1972 first album by the American Southern rock band Atlanta Rhythm Section. It was originally released on the Decca label DL-75265. It was produced by Buddy Buie. The album was re-released in 1973 with Back Up Against the Wall as a double album on MCA label MCA-24114. Rodney Justo: Vocals. Barry Bailey: Acoustic and Electric Guitars. Dean Daughtry: Keyboards. Robert Nix: Drums, Percussion. Arranged by the Atlanta Rhythm Section.
