Cursive Mama, I’m Swollen. I don’t know a terrible amount about the basics of Cursive frontman Tim Kasher’s personal character - never cared to look. He could be 20, he could be 30. Sounds like a softly bearded white dude with the same suburban issues many of us have. But, again, who knows, he could be a British guy faking his way through a pseudo-American yelp. I do, however, know quite a bit about this man’s emotions, as he’s long been known for his candid songwriting

Wracked with doubt, contradiction and existential despair, Mama, I’m Swollen strikes out as a weighty, superbly realised endeavour which, for all its oppressive nature, is as eminently listenable and brave an album as any the band have produced. 80. Diehard fans will continue to bray for "The Ugly Organ 2," but Swollen features better songs, stronger playing, and Dylan-level lyrics, making it the band's most cohesive work to date.
