Kerrier District (album). Kerrier District is an album by Luke Vibert released under the alias Kerrier District Contents. CD version CAT 143 CD. 3X12" version CAT 143 LP. 2 References.

Kerrier District, released by the suddenly disco-happy Rephlex, is to Metro Area what Ivana Humpalot is to Plenty O'Toole: a parody of something that already has its own fun to it, with more-obvious humor thrown in. It's quite possible that Luke Vibert holed himself up with nothing but releases from Metro Area 's Environ label - along with some from the like-minded Balihu - before surfacing with ten jubilant tracks that, like Metro Area, bleed with every single signifier of electro-disco.

Luke Vibert's first album under his Kerrier District alias is getting a remaster on April 29th. The UK producer's house-oriented alias came back into view last year, when Vibert revived it for an album on Hypercolour (and then followed that up with a remix EP featuring Ricardo Villalobos). Now Hypercolour is dipping back into the archives to revisit the very first Kerrier District album (simply called Kerrier District 1), which came out back in 2004 on Rephlex. The label calls it a classic, and a "kaleidoscopic ride through disco, funk and MPC beats.

Just opened up the vinyl – looks awesome and sounds great! Played 'New York' on Side D which says 33rpm on the label, but it's actually 45rpm. Can anyone else confirm this? I haven't checked the other tracks which are single sided yet.

Excellent sounding repress of one of the classic Luke Vibert albums

I also happen to think that this is limited to quite a small number of pressings 500 or 1000 at most. I concur with the sleeve issue. Pretty basic, so an upgrade to some better sleeves would make this a better package

Got this the other day, the sleeve contains 3 plain paper inner sleeves, so you may want to replace them with your own paper inner sleeves instead. The outer card sleeve also a bit narrow so you might have a bit of trouble removing the vinyl. No issues for me with the pressing on an LP-120, great release IMO.If you buy the album on Bleep, you appear to get an MP3 release of Kerrier District 2 as well according to the site's page.

Repress coming on Hypercolour. 500 on clear vinyl from Bleep.com, remainder in black vinyl.

One of the best modern disco albums ever released - Sits alongside Metro Area with ease. Luke adds his tripped out dubbyness which makes this sound his own. Really good, very interesting and awesomely produced.

Luke Vibert drives into the KERRIER DISTRICT for some Italo-disco, and the title of the first track, "Let's Dance and Freak" encapsulates the mood perfectly. "Silhouettes" starts out with suggests of dub, but quickly hits the dancefloor, replete with fiddle and flute. The combination of retro and modern definitely skews more towards the 'retro' side (as you can hear on "Disco Bus"), but that's part of the album's charm. The vocal bits that pepper "Disclix" help the acid build to those woodwind flourishes. And the sly "Yesco" manages to combine a moderate acid line with some horn stabs, while the slinky "Negresco" slides in and out energetically. "Squaredance" brings things to a close with a mellow guitar strum. A district worth several visits.

Over a year passed since I had listened to this one, and it comes right back at the good time ! If you're having a shitty day this will pull you back up onto your feet... one advice : pitch it up to the max and you get a harder disco touch that somewhat lacks to the normal pitch play. But the tracks are there, lush bass & synths parts and a brilliant and playful beat programming. Can't say which tracks are the best for me as every listen brings up a new angle, a moody and versatile personality, preventing any boredom syndrom... but then again, who could expect Vibert to get boring ?

On the third listen to this leftfield disco house album, racoons we crawling on my roof looking for the sound of "Let's Dance and Freak" Somehow Luke Vibert has managed to tap into the tonebank of shy nocturnal beasts' mating call. The more aggressive of two seemed to want to jump off the roof on top of me until I snapped some flash photos, unintentionally, scaring off the entire gang of ring tailed bandits. The night vision pigments of their eyes created glowing bright orange orbs with the flash. For Rephlex, Luke Vibert has decided the tranpose the acid revival he forefronted with 2003's Yosef (warp) to Italo disco which others would probably not associate with the acid sound in the first place.
