David Bowie is the self-titled debut studio album by English musician David Bowie, released on 1 June 1967, on Deram Records. Its style and content bears little overt resemblance to the type of music that he was later known for, such as the folk rock influenced "Space Oddity" or the glam rock of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

David Bowie Dies at Age 69 After Battling Cancer. Here are a few from his extensive catalog: The Easybeats, Friday on My Mind Sadly, Stevie Wright of The Easybeats died at age 68 on Dec. 26. Featured on Bowie’s all-covers album Pin Ups, it seems fitting to include this frenetic version of the Australian band’s ‘60s classic in memory of both musicians. The Rolling Stones, "Let's Spend the Night Together" Bowie adds some honky-tonk piano to this sexy track, included on Aladdin Sane

Writes Bowie biographer David Buckley in Strange Fascination (1999): Bowie’s influences came from the music hall, light entertainment and the theatre as well as from Anglo-American popular music. Bowie was not alone in his appreciation of music hall: Tommy Steele, Marty Wilde and Joe Brown all covered music hall and The Kinks and The Beatles also pay homage to the genre. Like these earlier singers, and particularly like Lennon who sang in a rasping Scouse accent, Bowie also made sure he sounded like where he came from.

The thing to know about David Bowie's 1979 album Lodger is that there really isn't anything special to know: No creation myth, no alter ego, no 10-minute-long song-suites or spooky instrumentals or pretentious backstories about George Orwell and "the squashed remains of ethnic music as it survives in the age of Muzak rock. Actually, Lodger might be the first David Bowie album marketed as nothing more than an album of recorded music by David Bowie. The dog had a point: Seriousness really can be boring after awhile, which might've occurred to Bowie after the cold white peaks of 1977's Low.

Формируйте собственную коллекцию записей David Bowie. It's generally considered Bowie's first rock album. The 1969 original versions were released on Philips and titled "David Bowie" while the concurrent North American (US and Canada) releases on Mercury had a strap line "Man of Words/Man of Music" at the top of the album. Although Mercury still cataloged it as "David Bowie" it was commonly called by the strap line and when RCA repackaged and re-released it in 1972, they erroneously referred to this advertising title.
