Only You" is a single by English band Portishead, released in 1998. The video to "Only You" was directed by Chris Cunningham, who has also worked with Aphex Twin, Björk, and Placebo. It involved Beth Gibbons floating in air, and a young boy. The people were shot in a tank of water and then digitally inserted into an alleyway of a street scene.
Portishead is the second studio album by English electronic band Portishead, released on 16 September 1997 by Go! Discs. Only You" samples Ken Thorne's "Inspector Clouseau" and The Pharcyde's "She Said". Western Eyes" is listed as sampling "Hookers & Gin" by the Sean Atkins Experience in the album's liner notes. In reality, this song does not exist; like most of the samples on the album, it was created by the band.

Only the downtempo "Over" and softly poppy "Western Eyes" break from this cooler sound, sounding warm and unaltered. The rest of the album is a different story. Somehow it adds to the noir atmosphere to have darker, colder sounds woven in with the jazzy trip-hop. Portishead, presently working on their long-awaited third album, made a triumphant second album.
