In A Glass House is a music studio album recording by GENTLE GIANT (Eclectic Prog/Progressive Rock) released in 1973 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. Of course all of the patented GENTLE GIANT'isms are present throughout culminating into perhaps my personal favourite GIANT song of all time "In A Glass House". In A Glass House" is a real prog lovers album with some highly complex interludes and well thought out tempo shifts and melodic runs. I guess if SPOCK'S BEARD borrowed from any of GENTLE GIANT albums this would be it.

Album comes in a gimmix cover with the center part of the jacket front side being transparent foil with black print on it; there is a printed cardboard insert that provides the remainder of the cover image. Release also contains a printed inner sleeve with the lyrics. Track B4 is not mentioned on the release, but the music is present on the disc.

Gentle Giant’s fifth album, In A Glass House, proved to be a major turning point for the band. Based in Portsmouth, on the south coast of England, they’d begun their recording career with cult imprint Vertigo, producing a series of classic albums whose complex and beguiling brand of prog rock earned them a loyal fan base. An arduous tour to promote fourth album, Octopus, had been hampered by the increasingly fractious relationship that existed between sibling bandmates Derek (vocals and sax), Ray (bass) and Phil Shulman (sax)

In A Glass House" which could be argued as the best album Gentle Giant recorded was never released on vinyl in America. This hurt the band and let numerous progressive rock fans in the dark about a tremendous effort. For those of you that have enjoyed the sounds of Gentle Giant over the years but would not consider yourself a true believer you can be convinced with four listenings to "In A Glass House. On the first one play the CD straight through without any interruption. The sounds of The Runaway, Experience, and the title track will leave you speechless. But these are minor quibbles. In A Glass House rates right up there with Octopus as Gentle Giant CD's that everyone should have. The remastering is excellent, and the live track is a plus. An absolute must for serious proggers.
