Interview (stylized ĭn′terview) is the eighth album by British progressive rock band Gentle Giant. The album was released in 1976. It is a concept album conceived as a radio interview. Three of the tracks integrate brief "interview" sections which were staged in the studio. The title song has lyrics derived from the type of question and answer dialogue they had encountered while talking to the music press. This album was critically and commercially less successful than their previous album Free Hand.

Interview is the album when Gentle Giant did not improve themselves. It's the Power and Glory quality, at least. At every album, GG seemed to go further and further, peeking at many points of their careers; Free Hand being the last time. Out of the eight first albums from Gentle Giant this should be the last one you purchase though. There are traces on Inverview as to what would come on the next Gentle Giant album called The Missing Piece but no one could have imagined that the change in sound would be as significant as it would be. The downfall had started.

Yes it's been hard, going a long time And we're together even now Why do you ask? Surely you know it! Isn't it clear just when and how What can we tell you? At the beginning had no direction Any other way After the fourth one, realisation Finding our road, the same as if today.

A sardonic concept album. Like most prog outfits, Gentle Giant felt the white hot breath of punk on their necks during 1976, yet they stuck to their guns and, on 23 April of that same year, released Interview. A sardonic concept album, it poked fun at the state of the music industry and dissected the way a group’s relationship with the rock press could either help or hinder their career.

This album has an average beat per minute of 132 BPM (slowest/fastest tempos: 93/166 BPM). See its BPM profile at the bottom of the page. Recent albums by Gentle Giant. Giant for a Day. 1978. The Power and the Glory.
