Definitely upbeat and happy. It’s a song sung by a guy. All I remember is that right at the beginning of the song he says somthing along the lines of how could I forget that beat and then it starts jamming out. It’s a rap song. The letter's addressed to an old friend who slept with "Jane," either the writer's fiancee or his wife. And if we had any doubts, the letter is signed, "L. Cohen. The song's about being betrayed.
It's the right time of the night for makin' love" with the one who declared "First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin" over stinging guitar work by Stevie Ray Vaughan on the opening track here. And it went a long way toward reestablishing Cohen, whose reputation was in a minor eclipse in the mid-'80s. A year later, with the way paved for him, he released his brilliant comeback album I'm Your Man.
The 9 minute album mix of the Temptations Papa was a Rollin Stone has a long slow instrumental build-up before the singing even starts. Most of the material by Godspeed you Black Emperor would also fit the above description. k views · View 7 Upvoters · Answer requested by.
