Freddie Hubbard: trumpet, flugelhorn.
One of Freddie Hubbard's few decent efforts during his very commercial period with Columbia, this LP found his quintet (with tenor-saxophonist Junior Cook and keyboardist George Cables) joined by a small orchestra and a string section on a set of potentially dismal material. Fortunately these six performances (particularly "Crisis," "Ebony Moonbeams" and Stevie Wonder's "Too High") are given fairly creative treatment
Exclusively for Prime members. Sample this album Artist (Sample). Hubbard is strong and stylish even in a R&B program. However the great must in this album is a slow ballad titled 'Black Maybe' in which Mr. Hubbard put all the strings of his heart. A very beautiful and sensitive ballad arranged with strings. Also to be mentioned is the swing of the opening 'Camel Rise' and the beautiful 'Crisis' both with wah-wah guitar!
