The following list of Motorhead albums, ranked from worst to best, carries special irony. After all, in their earliest years, Lemmy Kilmister and his accomplices were actually nicknamed "the worst band in the world. Of course, they'd roar to the top of the British charts within just a few years – and, over a decades-long career to follow, they proved themselves to be one of the world's very best bands.

This particular Best of Motörhead release is a double-disc set on the Sanctuary subsidiary Metal-Is, and it's one of the very, very few Motörhead collections that tries to draw material from throughout the band's career. The compilers couldn't secure the rights to everything, and as such, there's nothing here from albums like 1916 or Bastards. But there are tracks from the later Overnight Sensation, Snake Bite Love, and We Are Motörhead albums, plus four bonus live tracks dating from various points in the group's career

Although uneven, the best of Hammered proved to be entertaining, and underlined the belief that Motörhead were clearly capable to coming up with aggressive rock’n’roll as good as anything in the 21st Century. 16. This didn’t help the atmosphere, and that came through. It was a very decent and consistent album, and had some strong songs. The last Motörhead studio album, Bad Magic has a real stench of the blues running through it. Despite his health problems, Lemmy sounded forthright and confident on an album that, if anything, had a lot in common with On Parole. In that respect, it appeared to have the band coming full circle.
