3. Rondo (Allegro scherzando). Ludwig van Beethoven. Vladimir Ashkenazy, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Georg Solti. Piano Concerto N. in B flat major, O. 9. 4. 1. Allegro con brio. in E flat major O. 3 -"Emperor".
Piano Concerto No. 3 In C Minor, Op. 37: III. Rondo: Allegro. Piano Concerto No. 4 In G Major, Op. 58: I. Allegro moderato. 3. 5 In E Flat Major, Op. 73: III. 2 In B Flat Major, Op. 19: I. 5. II. Adagio: 2. Adagio. Unfortunately, I ran out of money when I purchased the 4 concertos and the entire Beethoven piano sonata collection, and Concerto had gone out of print when I remembered that I had yet to purchase the "Emperor". 37. 7. I. Allegro con brio Ludwig van Beethoven; Vladimir Ashkenazy; Chicago Symphony Orchestra; Sir Georg Solti. 8. Largo Ludwig van Beethoven; Vladimir Ashkenazy; Chicago Symphony Orchestra; Sir Georg Solti. Grammy Award - Best Classical Performance, Instrumental Soloist or Soloists (with orchestra), 1974. This Grammy-winning release marks Vladimir Ashkenazy's first of three cycles of the complete Beethoven piano concertos and captures the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and conductor Sir Georg Solti at the peak of their careers. Ashkenazy recorded these concertos in May 1971 and May 1972: in 1971 the third and fifth concertos were recorded; a year later the cycle was completed with the first, second and fourth concertos. 96 kHz, 24-bit PCM – Decca/London Studio Masters.
CD 1 Ludwig van Beethoven - Piano Concerto No. 1 - Six Bagatelles op. 126 - Vladimir Ashkenazy - Chicago Symphony Orchestra - Sir Georg Solti 01. 1 In C major I. Allegro con brio (15:07) 02. 1 In C major II. Largo (12:09) 03. Performers: Vladimir Ashkenazy - piano Chicago Symphony Orchestra Sir Georg Solti - conductor. Each of these performances has its own profile. The orchestra plays incisively in the First Concerto, but Ashkenazy's plush lyricism doesn't make a good match either with the orchestra or with the music, and he makes one weird ritard in the first movement. The Second Concerto is uneventful, rather bland and pleasant. The Fourth Concerto is enlivened, at least intellectually, by Solti's approach, constantly revealing interesting unfamiliar details in the orchestral score.
