The Lovin' Spoonful is an American rock band, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 and well known for a number of hit songs in the 1960s including "Summer in the City", "Do You Believe In Magic", "Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind?", and "Daydream". The band had its roots in the folk music scene based in the Greenwich Village section of lower Manhattan during the early 1960s.
Daydream is the second album by The Lovin' Spoonful, released in 1966. It features two hits, the title track, which reached No. 2 in the . Billboard Top 40 charts, and "You Didn't Have to Be So Nice" (. No. 10). With only five originals on their debut release, Daydream featured much more songwriting by singer and vocalist John Sebastian, who either wrote or co-wrote all but one of the songs on this release. Daydream was re-released on CD in 2002 by Buddah Records and included five bonus tracks.

The Lovin' Spoonful is a pop/rock band that was formed in New York City, New York, United States in 1965. The band consisted of John Sebastian (vocals, autoharp), Zal Yanofsky (guitar), Steve Boone (bass) and Joseph Campbell Butler (drums). Yanofsky left the group in 1967 and was replaced by Jerry Yester, and Sebastian left the group in 1968. The band issued five albums and two film soundtracks before they split in 1969.
