This is an extremely deceitful album. It purports to be a collection of traditional Appalachian instrumentals by ex-Rooftop Singer Erik Darling (he is listed on the cover as Eric rather than Erik), supposedly featuring him on guitar, banjo, dulcimer, fiddle, and harmonica. The first 20 tracks here, though, are actually a series of field recordings of Etta Baker, Hobart Smith, and Richard Chase collected by Liam Clancy, Paul Clayton, and Diane Hamilton in Virginia and North Carolina in the summer of 1959.

The Gilbert & Sullivan Collection. Gilbert & Sullivan: The Yeomen of the Guard. Larry Adler Harmonica Virtuoso - Eric Robinson Conducting The Pro Arte Ochestra.

Appalachian stereotypes are the generalizations that are made about the Appalachian people and cultures as a whole. Appalachians, residents of the United States that reside in the area that spans from the mountains of southern New York through Alabama (referred to as Appalachia), face a number of negative stereotypes. The people of Appalachia are often portrayed as lazy, tobacco smoking, overall-wearing farmers.

Worth picking up for the Etta Baker tracks alone. Great solo recording old-time compilation
