Pink Floyd were an English rock band formed in London in 1965. They achieved international acclaim with their progressive and psychedelic music. Distinguished by their philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, extended compositions, and elaborate live shows, they are one of the most commercially successful and influential groups in popular music history.

Pink Floyd, ‘Animals’ (1977). The band derided by punks like the Sex Pistols as epitomizing "dinosaur" rock performed thick, rich protest music here, with some of David Gilmour's most glorious blues playing amid bleak panoramas of processed sound
Pink Floyd photographed circa 1967. If Led Zeppelin were the band most responsible for hard rock's vertical expansion in the '70s, hitting previously unforeseeable heights for the genre, Pink Floyd were the band that expanded it the most horizontally. Obviously, they stretched out the length - double albums, side-long jams, songs that had more movements and ideas than entire LPs by other bands. With their debut album turning 50 this week, we've decided to count down our choices for the 50 best Pink Floyd songs - from the proggiest to the poppiest to the most psychedelic, and the mini-masterpieces that were all three and more. Shine on, you lunatic vegetable men. 50. "On the Run" (The Dark Side of the Moon, 1973).

I didn't care for it much when I first heard it, preferring DSotM and Animals, but now I absolutely love the album. Still love Animals and DSotM as much, if not more now, but Meddle has risen above the other albums faster than any other album I've grown to love. More has amazing instrumentals, mellow songs, sublime vocals, blasting rockers, psychedelics, bit or blues and spanish to form a very diverse album.
