Us is the sixth studio album (and ninth album overall) by the English singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel, originally released in 1992. It was remastered, with most of Gabriel's catalogue, in 2002. Singles taken from the album included "Digging in the Dirt", "Steam", "Blood of Eden" (an early version of the track was previously featured in the 1991 Wim Wenders film Until the End of the World), and "Kiss That Frog". Promotional singles included "Come Talk to Me" and "Secret World.
This following is the solo discography of Peter Gabriel, an English singer-songwriter, musician and humanitarian activist who rose to fame as the lead vocalist and flautist of the progressive rock band Genesis. After leaving Genesis, Gabriel went on to a successful solo career. His 1986 album, So, is his most commercially successful, selling five million copies in America, and the album's biggest hit, "Sledgehammer", won a record nine MTV Awards at the 1987 MTV Video Music Awards.
Released September 27, 1992. But US is far from just being bleakly introspective featuring several songs that have gone on to be amongst the most cherished in the Gabriel songbook. The artwork I did with the photographer David Scheinmann and there was this sense of again playing with distortions from movement. Because the other theme of the album was relationships, you see me with arms open and this female form that’s pale, and lost, and not able to bring this presence into a fully real place.
Six years after earning his first blockbuster, Peter Gabriel finally delivered Us, his sequel to So. Clearly, that great span of time indicates that Gabriel was obsessive in crafting the album, and Us bears the sound of endless hours in the studio. It's not just that the production is pristine, clean, and immaculate, it's that the music is, with only a handful of exceptions (namely, the "Sledgehammer" rewrite "Steam" and the fellatio ode "Kiss That Frog"), remarkably subtle and shaded
