Bill Griffin: My first Rush album. Rush was a band that, up through Signals at least, got better with every release. A Farewell To Kings is one of a handful of albums that friends introduced me to in my teens and which ignited my life long love of all forms of rock music. This is the album that nurtured an ability in me to appreciate the more complex and challenging - and hence rewarding - style of rock music.

A Farewell to Kings is the fifth studio album by Canadian rock band Rush, released on September 1, 1977, by Mercury Records in the United States. Its total length is 37:13. The band's lineup included vocalist and bassist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson, and drummer Neil Peart. The album was another popular release for the band as it reached on Billboard 200 chart and on the UK albums chart. It has since gone Platinum in the . and Canada, as well as Gold in the . The strengths of this album are the heavy progressive style, the great musicianship, the impressive vocal range of Geddy Lee, and the improvement in Rush's songwriting abilities for normal length songs. There are no glaring weaknesses on A Farewell to Kings. Here are my thoughts on each track.

Canadians, from Quebec to Tokyo - The Leader-Post (Regina, SK), September 1977. Rush - An International Happening - RPM Weekly Magazine, September 1977. A Farewell to Kings Music: Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart, Lyrics: Neil Peart. When they turn the pages of history When these days have passed long ago Will they read of us with sadness For the seeds that we let grow We turned our gaze From the castles in the distance Eyes cast down On the path of least resistance.
