Machine Gun Etiquette featured a strong 1960s garage rock influence, with Farfisa organ in several songs. In 1982, The Damned released their only album for Bronze Records, Strawberries. The band had now expanded to a quintet, with the addition of new full-time keyboardist Roman Jugg. At this time, Sensible was splitting his time between The Damned and his own solo career, which had seen success in the UK with the number one hit "Happy Talk" in 1982.

The Damned chronology. Damned Damned Damned (1977). Music for Pleasure (1977). Machine Gun Etiquette (1979). Music for Pleasure is the second studio album by English punk rock band the Damned. It was released on 18 November 1977 by Stiff Records. In a brief interview for the documentary The Damned: Don't You Wish That We Were Dead (2015), Mason reported the band were accustomed to a much faster recording schedule than he was familiar with Pink Floyd. The Damned hoped to record several songs on their first day in studio, when Pink Floyd would still be fine-tuning the microphone set-up and tuning the drums. The album featured new member Lu Edmunds on guitar alongside original guitarist Brian James, as well as guest saxophonist Lol Coxhill.

Machine Gun Etiquette The Damned. Formed in 1976, the Damned were Britain's first punk rock band. By 1979 they had managed to disintegrate and re-assemble, way before it was fashionable. By then punk rock and its neater sibling, new wave, were regularly producing real hits in the UK and the Damned were no exception, with three hit singles drawn from the MACHINE GUN ETIQUETTE LP released that year. The new version of the band that emerged in 1979 had Rat Scabies and Dave Vanian on drums and vocals as before, but Captain Sensible had switched to guitar with Algy Ward coming in on bass. Also there are alternative versions of all three A-sides and finally the video clip for Plan 9, Channel 7. It is such a complete album that I didn't want to clutter it up with demos and out-takes. Maybe they'll appear elsewhere someday.

The Damned’s current lineup includes vocalist Dave Vanian, guitarist Captain Sensible, keys by Monty Oxymoron, and Pinch on drums, along with Strawberries era bassist Paul Grey who rejoined the band last year. No news yet of a Hollow East leg of the tour. The Damned – 2019 Tour Dates. Wed. 5/22 – Long Beach, CA – Alex’s Bar. Machine Gun Etiquette.
