The third and final album from new romantic icons Visage found foppish frontman Steve Strange and drummer Rusty Egan almost completely without most of the high-profile sidemen - like Midge Ure, keyboardist Billy Currie and bassist Barry Adamson - who'd played such a big role in crafting the group's lush, haunting synth pop.

Beat Boy is no exception, having four extra tracks. Another plus for Cherry Red is that their titles tend to stay in print awhile, unlike EMI and Polydor. 6:49 minutes of the single 'Beat Boy' is 3 minutes too long. There are some good idea's here - I think Visage beat Power Station to the punch with their attempts at a Dance Rock hybrid (listen to 'Casualty') but much of the material suffers from over extended arrangements. Clearly they missed the input of Midge Ure to say 'enough' and cut the songs off earlier than allowed.

Beat Boy is the third studio album by the British new wave band Visage. It was recorded at Trident Studios between 1982 and 1983 and released on Polydor Records in October 1984 (delayed by contractual problems the band were having at that time). Reaching No. 79 on the UK album chart, the album was poorly received by critics and would be the band's last studio album for almost thirty years.
