Though it took a bit longer to release, Middle of Nowhere is another typically excellent Orbital album. Experiments with breakbeats and other styles of music made interesting mixers of their previous two albums, Snivilisation and In Sides, and this fifth album includes nods to big beat-techno ("I Don't Know You People") and soundtrack composers. The latter is hardly a surprise, considering the Hartnolls' sideline gig as score composers (Event Horizon, The Saint).
The Middle of Nowhere is the fifth album released by Orbital. It was released on the 5th of April 1999, it peaked at and spent 7 weeks in the UK albums chart. The track "Know Where to Run" was featured in the Playstation game Wipeout 3. Samples used include: A small section from John Baker's "New Worlds" was sampled for "Spare Parts Express".
