The Red is the debut studio album by South Korean girl group Red Velvet. It was released on September 9, 2015 by SM Entertainment and distributed by KT Music. The album concept focuses solely on the group's "Red" image stemming from the group's name and concept, where "Red" shows their vivid and bold image, while the "Velvet" half is their more mature and sophisticated side. A follow-up to the album called The Velvet was released in the first half of 2016, composed of mostly R&B tracks and ballads.

Once the double-disc set ran its course, the album was separated into two individual discs - The Red Album and The Blue Album - which made sense, since they each appealed to radically different audiences. With the exception of Live, who sounds glaringly out of place, The Red Album contains all the testosterone-driven acts, including highlights from the notorious sets by Korn, Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I'm just going to go ahead and honestly say that this compilation right here DOES NOT by any means "suck", nor is it definitely as bad as other reviewers have said or 'pointed out'. Sure The Red compilation is not perfect but regardless it's still fucking rocking!

Oh dear, as the other reviewers point out, this sucks piles. But I have to point out that the compilation does have two great, and I mean great, tracks on it. The first is Simon Posford's remix of the classic Infinity Project track. But the other reviewers have missed out on the genius of Logic Bomb's remix of their fantastic track "Datalinks". The original track was excellent, but this remix takes it to another level and the production is mindblowing. I'd love to bin this album, but I'm keeping it for the psychedelic monster that is the remix of "Datalinks". Dr G ~*~

TIP.World has lost a lot of their quality lately, so now they try out a new chapter in their old colour series. Or actually, this colour series was on the legendary TIP Records label. We got the Yellow one, the Blue one, the Orange one and the Phosphorecent one. Now, many years later we finally get the Red one. The cover art is the same old "TIP head" which is really cool, but what about the music? When I first took a look at the track list, I was very surprised to find the names The Infinity Project and Hallucinogen on the first line, so I had to get my hands on this one. First out is the old classic Stimuli track by The Infinity Project. A fantastic track that still is good enough for todays parties. Here we get a new version, which is a remix done by Hallucinogen! This version is very good, but I think the original was so good that it wasn’t need for any remix of it. Anyway, it is nice to hear a track like this again. Then we leave the old masters, and jump over to new, modern full on Israeli trance. Track 2 is sort of two different tracks remixed into one track. The original tracks were made by Nissimyani and The Melovskys, but here we get a remix done by Raja Ram and TIP.Worlds new label dj, Lucas. It starts off with guitar and voice samples. Then we jump over to a full on bass line and some cheesy synth sounds. In my ears, really bad full on. Track 3 is the track called Datalinks by Logic Bomb. This track was originally released on their album Unlimited on TIP.World in 2002. Here we get a slightly different version, but you can’t hear much difference. I prefer the original, and I don’t feel that I needed another version of this track. Track 4 is by someone called The Inner Visions, which are Shanti (Juvenile) and Cyrus The Virus. This is something for those who are after the full on sound of GMS. As I have written before, I’m a bit tired of this style. This sounds like tons of tracks I have heard before by GMS. Track 5 is a new track by Astrix (Avi Shmailov) who is one of the biggest stars on the full on marked in Israel, but also in many other parts of the world. He gives us a typical full on Israeli track. Drifting full on bass line and some melodic breaks now and then. The melody we get in the middle of this track sounds way to cheesy in my ears. Track 6 is by two brothers (Sub6) from Israel who is about to do it really well on the full on marked too. Here we get another taste of their sound. They sure have a bit different sound. It sort of reminds me of some of the latest tracks by Infected Mushroom, but with a very different vibe. They sure like to put vocals and metallic vibes into their tracks. Track 7 is a collaboration between Dynamic and someone called Z-Machine. Dynamic made great success with their debut album Dynamix on Phonokol Records. This track is one of the better tracks on this compilation. Full on Israeli trance, but not with the cheesy parts that we get in most of the other tracks on this compilation. Track 8 is a collaboration between two of the veterans in the full on scene, Xerox and Psy Craft. These Israelis has been in the scene from the beginning, but the track they serve us here doesn’t impress me much. Totally full on, with some simple, ugly guitar that ruins the track for me. I like some guitar in trance now and then, but this kind of guitar is just simple. Track 9 is by someone called Black & White (Samuel Valerstien and Yaniv Biton). Another Israeli duo, giving us their full on. This is some of the worst full on I have heard. Reminds me a bit of the Skazi style with those cheesy hard house sounds all the way. The last track we get on this compilation is a live version of the Mescaline track by 1200 Mics. A classic track, but again, I didn’t feel like I needed another version of this one either. I wonder why TIP.World goes this direction? Maybe this kind of full on sells more records, but in the end it is pretty sad that this label that once were really great, has fallen as deep as this. On this compilation we get two good tracks (which has been released long time ago), and the rest is just average tracks...

TIP World pays homage to their classic "color" series by reviving it with TIP Red. Unfortunately the results don't live up to the classic originals of the series. To me (and most people I know) the "color" series is all about classic goa so the inclusion of so much "full on" material automatically makes it suspect. The tracks aren't bad (the Shanti and Astrix stand out as full on), but all and all its the usual TIP World fair as of late. There are two tracks that do stand out on this comp though. The first track, being a Hallucinogen remix, is of the classic "goa" fair. Lots of good melodies and vibes of a great by-gone era. Sub 6 is the other track worth having. While its not exactly goa, it is way funkier and better than the rest of the full on fair here with a bassline that actually has some groove (anyone remember what that is?). End result, but it for the Hallcinogen and Sub 6 tracks, use the rest for filler somewhere...
