Friends of Mine is the second solo album by anti-folk musician Adam Green, released on July 22, 2003. It relies heavily on short violin-driven melodramatic pop songs and has a much more polished sound than Garfield, Green's 2002 debut album. A sophmore studio album, the recording is noted for containing vocal stylings that are considered to be a departure from those of Green's previous work (including that of The Moldy Peaches), showcasing a deeper 1960s-influenced spin sound feel to the recording.

Adam Green – Emily Lyrics. from album: Gemstones (2005). I just don't care about the evening news I never listen to the crackhouse blues They say the city is the place to be I wanna dance with Emily. Everybody come around the window shop I guess they never seen the moves I got I wanna be with what the people see I wanna dance with Emily. Emily, sweet baby, won't you be my wife Cutting me wide open with a kitchen knife Everybody said that she is underage Honky tried to shoot me with a 7 gauge
Adam Green (born May 28, 1981) is an American singer-songwriter, artist and filmmaker. Green is well known for his involvement in the Anti-folk music movement and as one half of the band The Moldy Peaches. Green has found success as a solo artist, enjoying increasing popularity in the United States as well as a number of European countries, particularly Germany.
Every Adam Green album gives off a slightly different vibe in spite of their lyrical similarities; "Gemstones" feels like a collection of showtunes at times, while "Jacket Full of Danger" alternatively conjures up mental images of Las Vegas and lounge singers clad in crushed velvet suits. Here the music takes on a more straightforward pop approach, with simple yet full bodied string arrangements forming the backing for most of the tracks. As with all of Adam Green's albums, I think that you need to approach "Friends of Mine" with the right mindset: it's fun music that isn't meant to be overanalyzed, though there are certainly some strong lyrical snippets from time to time.
