The Poetry of Wordsworth Audiobook. William Wordsworth (Author), Cedric Hardwicke (Narrator), HarperCollins Publishers Limited (Publisher) & 0 more. If you want to understand 19th century English poetry, you need to read a lot-if not all-of Wordsworth. Alas, the frisson that his early readers experienced will probably not be felt by a modern reader. He's a poet who hasn't worn well, at least not in bulk, though individual poems like TINTERN ABBEY still have the capacity to thrill and inspire. Only an academic would take the whole production seriously, and the modern common reader can probably get by with an anthology of the Best of Wordsworth. This book is also a very unwieldy paperback: too many pages for comfort.
William Wordsworth (7 April 1770 – 23 April 1850) was a major English Romantic poet who, with Samuel Taylor Coleridge, helped to launch the Romantic Age in English literature with their joint publication Lyrical Ballads (1798). Wordsworth's magnum opus is generally considered to be The Prelude, a l poem of his early years that he revised and expanded a number of times.
A Slumber Did My Spirit Seal. A slumber did my spirit seal I had no human fears: She seemed a thing that could not feel The touch of earthly years. No motion has she now, no force; She neither hears nor sees; Rolled round in earth’s diurnal course, With rocks, and stones, and trees. Composed upon Westminster Bridge
