How am I supposed to walk you home When you're at least fifty feet ahead? Cause you walked off in a huff And I'm that pissed I can't remember what it was I said. Here we go Same time, same place I don't like the way You kiss his face It's not that there's No trust as such I'd love to make up But I've had too much. Now you know fine well I'm staying I've only ever carried out that threat once before And even then I couldn't get far And you're mum came and called me back before I'd even made it to the door. Trippy from Here We Go/Trippy single release (1998). Released as a double A sided single with Here We Go in 1998, Trippy is surely one of Arab Strap’s finest moments. But, in true Arab Strap fashion, Trippy is no simple rave anthem; slowly, almost indistinguishably, a gentle melody appears, and then a sample that sounds something akin t. agpipes? Acid bagpipes! And then we’re back in the room, Aidan‘s familiar brogue the perfect come down. Eat your heart out, Born Slippy. Girls Of Summer from Girls of Summer EP (1997).

Despite such subjects, Arab Strap has repeatedly won critical praises. Philophobia, Chemikal Underground, 1998. Mad For Sadness, Go! Beat, 1999. In April of 1998, Arab Strap arrived with their second album, Philophobia, which entered the British charts at number 37. Filled with melancholy and plaintive loner realism, the recording led to critical comparisons to the Tindersticks and Joy Division.
