The real meat of the collection is that CD of 20 hits and staples, the songs that made the Specials one of the most vital bands of the early '80s: all the early singles - "Gangsters," "Ghost Town," "Message to You Rudy," "Nite Klub" - but also "Rat Race," "Stereotypes," "What I Like Most About You Is Your Girlfriend," "Racist. Friend," and "Nelson Mandela

Embarrassed By You. The Specials. Vote For Me. Guilty 'Til Proved Innocent! The Specials. Or Less: The Specials Live. BBC in Concert (15 December 1979). Ghost Town - Greatest Hits. 2009 Re-Recorded, Remastered Versions. Relaxing & Romantic Pop Songs - Best Love Album.

British Ska-Punk Legends the Specials Return in Top Form on ‘Encore’. On this iteration, their numbers have been winnowed significantly: r Dammers and singer Neville Staple are out of the picture; drummer John Bradbury and trombonist Rico Rodriguez died within months of each other in 2015. But with signpost singers Terry Hall and Lynval Golding in place, and Horace Panter holding down the bass lines, the classic sound is fairly intact, as is the spirit. The latter seems more to the point, as the set opens with stylistic curveballs

British 2-Tone icons The Specials have announced their first album of new music in 20 years. Entitled Encore, the new album is due out on 1 February 2019 and it follows 2001’s Conquering Ruler. It also features the group’s first original material since 1998’s Guilty ’til Proven Innocent! Encore also marks the return of original lead vocalist Terry Hall, who entered the studio with the band for the first time since 1981’s classic ‘Ghost Town’. Originally known as The Coventry Automatics, The Specials formed in Coventry in 1977. Combining ska, reggae and rocksteady with punk energy, the band helped pioneer the 2-Tone sound and they enjoyed considerable success in the late 1979s and early ‘80s. In 1980, ‘Too Much Too Young’, the lead track on their The Special AKA Live! EP, reached No. 1 in the UK.

The Specials, also known as The Special AKA, are an English 2 Tone and ska revival band formed in 1977 in Coventry. After some early changes, the first stable lineup of the group consisted of Terry Hall and Neville Staple on vocals, Lynval Golding and Roddy Radiation on guitars, Horace Panter on bass, Jerry Dammers on keyboards, John Bradbury on drums, and Dick Cuthell and Rico Rodriguez on horns. Their music combines a "danceable ska and rocksteady beat with punk's energy and attitude".
