Music for Films is the seventh solo studio album by British musician Brian Eno. It is a conceptual work intended as a soundtrack for imaginary films, although many of the pieces had already appeared in actual films.

Music for Films III is the third entry in Brian Eno's "Music for Films" series. It features tracks by Brian Eno, Roger Eno, Michael Brook, and Harold Budd among others. Three different versions of this album exist.

As with most things Eno, this led to a good deal of speculation and controversy. One filmmaker long ago stated, "All of that is crap - this music was never used in any films," and another film student who had tried out some of the cues: "this is the worst music for films ever.

Latest batch of reissues from Brian Eno includes three records from the late 1970s and early 80s and adds a new collection. Finally, More Music For Films marks the first of Astralwerks' twelve reissues to potentially hold something new for existing Eno fans.

Eno served as Jubilee’s composer, but the film utilizes existing Eno music from Music for Films. While one can easily argue that his music was ready-made for movies, it’s not just because of the sounds and style. Eno absolutely wanted to get into the biz. 1978’s Music for Films was a masterstroke on his part. Eno was playing, imagining things with the album. His analogue experimentation on Music for Films proved fruitful for years to come, appearing in several Jarman films, the Breathless remake, and John Woo’s A Better Tomorrow, among many other films. Good to see Eno’s music getting used exactly as he intended. Bonus: It needs to be mentioned that Slow Water was used again in 1995’s from Todd Haynes. The track is used as reinforcement for main character Carol White’s (Julianne Moore) emotional landscape, and it’s divine.
