Train's official music video for 'Drops of Jupiter'. Now that she's back in the atmosphere With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey, hey, hey She acts like summer and walks like rain Reminds me that there's a time to change, hey, hey, hey Since the return from her stay on the moon She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey, hey Hey, hey, hey.

Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me) was the lead single from Train’s second studio album, Drops of Jupiter, released in 2001. Taking the music industry by storm, the song catapulted Train from obscurity to rock superstardom, winning the Grammy for the Best Rock Song in 2002. Though this song can be interpreted in a number of different ways, Train’s lead singer Pat Monahan explained in a VH-1 interview that the song was inspired by the death of his mother, who battled lung cancer for many years. It was an obvious connection between me and my mother because Drops of Jupiter was as much about me being on a voyage, trying to find out who I am too, through all of this. The best thing we can do by loss of love is find ourselves. Pat Monahan via VH1. How did this song come to be? "Drops of Jupiter" Track Info.
Train released their first album in 1998, and were touring that year when Monahan's mother was dying of lung cancer - she was a heavy smoker. This was before the widespread use of cell phones, and Monahan made many stops to pay phones on the tour to speak with his mom during this difficult time. Drops of Jupiter' was as much about me being on a voyage and trying to find out who I am. The best thing we can do about loss of love is find ourselves through i. Train was in danger of becoming a one-hit-wonder before they released this. Their first hit, "Meet Virginia," was released 2 years earlier.

Train is a classic rock wannabe band in the mold of Counting Crows, although that's not always a bad thing. In fact, the best moments on Drops of Jupiter are the most blatant rip-offs, which means the band can sound endearing even when they don't sound unique. Does the hit title track remind you of Madman Across the Water-era Elton John? Well, it's no coincidence. Paul Buckmaster, who arranged the soaring strings on much of John's best work, reprises that role here, and session keyboardist extraordinaire Chuck Leavell channels John on the piano
