Beirut - Gallipoli album flac

Gallipoli is the most acoustically rich Beirut album to date, with studio buzz and random dissonance deployed as musical texture more than ever before.

Titled Gallipoli, it’s due for arrival February 1st through 4AD. The follow-up to No No No marks Beirut’s first album in three years and fifth overall. Work on the 12-track effort began back in Winter 2016 and saw Condon convene recording sessions all across the globe, including in New York City, Puglia, Italy, and Berlin, where Condon now resides. Its name is taken from the Italian town where Condon wrote the song. In a press release, he described how it came together: The next day I wrote the song I ended up calling ‘Gallipoli’ entirely in one sitting, pausing only to eat.

Gallipoli is largely an album of background music, and its wallpaper qualities can invoke eye rolls and boredom. On I Giardini, Condon sings so far in the back of his throat he sounds Muppet-like, and texturally, things are equally unsatisfying. The resonant piano and plodding percussion feel especially drawn out, far beyond the song’s pretty standard four-minute runtime. Then there’s Landslide, which is overwhelming in its perkiness. Beirut’s music will always remain rooted in the 2006 that birthed his first album. No matter what Condon releases, his discography will forever be associated with nostalgia for a more innocent era of indie rock.

The fifth full-length by Zach Condon's Beirut, Gallipoli is a sequel of sorts to 2015's No No No in that it returns co-producer Gabe Wax and employs similar instrumentation, including Condon's Farfisa organ. An instrument that he acquired at his first job at a community art space in his hometown of Santa Fe, New Mexico, it had been left behind by a (literal) traveling circus and ended up serving as the main writing tool for Condon's first two Beirut albums.

Gallipoli is the fifth studio album by indie folk band Beirut. It was released on February 1, 2019 by 4AD. The album is named after the Italian town where the title track was written. It is supported by the singles "Gallipoli", "Corfu" and "Landslide" Gallipoli.
