Complete your The Zombies collection. I've heard these tracks on the Zombie Heaven compilation back in the 90's, they sounded great. But on this LP release, I'm very disappointed. It has a tinny, treble sound, missing a lot of bass, sounds as if it was taken off of a third generation mixdown, terrible vinyl mastering.

In 1969, the Zombies landed their biggest hit with the moody, light psychedelia of "Time of the Season," but it was too late for the group to enjoy it much, as they had been broken up for over a year when the track from Odessey and Oracle belatedly took off on American radio.

The Zombies is the debut American studio album by English pop rock band The Zombies, released in January 1965 by Parrot Records. After the success of the double-sided hit single "She's Not There" b/w "You Make Me Feel Good" reached on the . charts in the fall of 1964, Parrot quickly released this LP in 1965 (PA 61001). The dozen tracks were taken from material the Zombies cut for their UK debut album, Begin Here. Also included are "It's Alright With Me" and "Sometimes" from their self-titled EP.

I find a quick use of a RCM will improve sound, performance....crud and slag can get caught in the grooves on new pressings , believe it or not.

This should have been released on Big Beat, not Varese Sarabande, never was a fan of V.S.

I'm not hearing anything that sounds unusual compared to what most 60s pop sounds like on vinyl. I have some of these songs on a couple Big Beat CDs but I don't have the Zombie Heaven box set. I'm assuming the boxset and the Big Beat CDs feature identical mastering. Will do a comparison of those tracks that I have duplicates of on CD but right now the vinyl is sounding fine. Big Beat might have done a better job had they done the release but as far as I'm concerned V.S. didn't screw this up either.

Hmm, maybe you've got a better setup than I do because my copy has fine frequency response. There are some issues with the packaging (the inner sleeve nearly fell apart when i pulled the LP out and the side A label has a sizeable chunk of the paper missing from the lower righthand corner), but I'd chalk that up to the rush of the pressing process on RSD. Perhaps the source itself wasn't the original tapes (cause God knows where those might be) but the pressing itself is very nice, very quiet.
