This album was released in 2006 after hurricane Katrina had destroyed their home-town of New Orleans in 2005. This disaster happened just before they could start working on this album. As the storm approached the coast, all of the citizens of New Orleans were told to evacuate the city or to go into the Superdome football stadium, which was fortified to withstand hurricane winds.

A Haunting Curse is a straightforward anger filled romp against all that is decent. Full of sinister lyrics, sharp sadistic vocals, pounding drums playing slow to fast patterns, and thick thudding grooves holding the rhythm and setting the tone of the album. This is not low production black metal, nor is it Christian rock, what Goatwhore play is extreme metal. Furious tempo changes, plenty of blast beat's and lightning quick double bass take place with Ben's revolting vocal style holding center stage. Riffs hit hard and provide the power of the album with fast catchy riffs that retain the trademark Goatwhore sound. When the verse's lead into the choruses’ is when Goatwhore is at full strength. Sammy and Ben trade off, providing the harsh vocals throughout the disk.

Audio CD, September 5, 2006. this is the first entire album I have ever gotten from Goatwhore. however I am well Impressed especially with the drum work. I also love the sound of this vocalist. and the lyrics are fairly creative. guitars are speedy and precise. One person found this helpful.
