Three Man Army made their debut in 1971 on "A Third Of A Lifetime" with Buddy Miles (dr, org, b) as a famous guest star. The "in every way easily written material made people sit up and take notice, above all, because of the excellent rhythm craft" (Sounds) and shaped the most dramatic hard rock sound of highest caliber. The well-in-demand session drummer, Tony Newman, was recruited for the recording of "Three Man Army" and "Three Man Army II" in 1973.
Three Man Army was a British hard rock band active in the first half of the 1970s. The group was formed by Adrian Gurvitz and Paul Gurvitz, formerly of The Gun. Following the band's dissolution, Adrian played with Buddy Miles and Paul played with Parrish & Gurvitz, then reunited as Three Man Army. Their debut album, A Third of a Lifetime, featured several drummers, including Miles, Carmine Appice (of Vanilla Fudge) and Mike Kellie (from Spooky Tooth).
Complete your Three Man Army collection. Hazed and Dazed A Third of a Lifetime is a typical hard rock album – excellent guitar solos and not too lavish in originality. I want to live on a ship with you where you can never escape to reality. Some things aren't meant sometime, shouldn't have taken them so hard. Just look around and see waves and sail the ocean for days together. Even the wishes are rather modest but nowadays this sound is considered as classics of hard rock. Rispondi Avvertimi Helpful.
The first Three Man Army album, despite its confidently trio-based title, actually teamed Paul Gurvitz and Adrian Gurvitz with a number of different drummers, including Buddy Miles, Spooky Tooth's Mike Kellie, and Vanilla Fudge's Carmine Appice. Though the Gurvitzes were able at mimicking the cliches of early-'70s hard rock, their material was ordinary to the point of dullness, and their guitar soloing stereotypical almost to the point of unwitting self-parody. A good number of British bands in the Led Zeppelin-Deep Purple spectrum did this kind of stuff better.

Three Man Army's rather good little debut album "A Third Of A Lifetime" from 1971 on B&C's short-lived offshoot label Pegasus Records has built up a serious rep amongst collectors – so its 2016 CD reissue in real style by England's Esoteric Recordings (part of Cherry Red) is good news for fans and lovers of Classic Seventies Rock.
Three Man Army made their debut in 1971 on "A Third Of A Lifetime" with Buddy Miles (drums, organ, and bass) as a famous guest star. Mike Kellie would take over on drums shortly after. The band's style was very much hard rock trio including some all around great playing.
