Strawbs (or The Strawbs) are an English rock band founded in 1964. Although the band started out as a bluegrass group they eventually moved on to other styles such as folk rock, progressive rock, and (briefly) glam rock
Grave New World is the fourth studio album by English band Strawbs, their fifth overall. It was the first album to be released after the departure of Rick Wakeman, under circumstances about which band leader Dave Cousins was very bitter. Cousins has admitted that the track "Tomorrow" was written about Wakeman. Happily their friendship survived and the two have since performed and recorded together, releasing an album Hummingbird in 2002.

Strawbs initially had a sound that was pretty well-established in the British folk rock scene, and were one of the few bands to ride successfully from folk onto the coat tails of progressive rock. While their lineup has constantly changed, their sound has been in a constant evolution, thanks to mastermind Dave Cousins, who is the driving force, the main songwriter and the only constant member since their formation.
