Deadeye Dick - Whirl album flac

Deadeye Dick were an American alternative rock trio that was formed in New Orleans, Louisiana. The band, which consisted of vocalist/guitarist Caleb Guillotte, bassist Mark Adam Miller, and drummer Billy Landry, was formed in 1991 and took their name from the Kurt Vonnegut novel of the same name. The group built up a loyal following touring the Southeast. They self-produced their first album even though they still had not landed a record deal.

Boasting a more mature set of lyrics, Whirl features two excellent opening tracks ("The Blues King," "I Won't Be There Anymore") but then becomes formulaic throughout the rest of the disc. The band seems to be trying too hard to recreate A Different Story, and to an extent, they succeed, but the songs suffer from forgettable song writing. At best, this album sounds like Cracker's Kerosene Hat with less of a country influence, but at its worst it sounds like faceless pop/rock.

Deadeye Dick released one more album (Whirl, 1995) before calling it quits. Guillotte and bass player Mark Miller both took jobs in the film industry - Miller works as an actor under the stage name "Mark Adam. Their drummer Bill Landry became an anesthesiologist.
