Thus the four guys in Bleeding Kansas, who in the photos on their full debut album following an initial EP have the relaxed looks and demeanor of the Converge fans they clearly are (perhaps unsurprisingly, that band's Kurt Ballou produced the album). Bleeding Kansas isn't yet rewriting rule books by any means, but the gift of a good band is to have a strong start to build on, and Dead Under Decor has that feeling - it's up to the group to take it further with time.

These guys sound much more in line with Converge than say, Atreyu, and we can all be thankful for that. It's those kinds of changes that keep you on your toes, and keep this album from sounding exactly like every other technical metalcore album already in existence. In short, Dead Under Decor makes a complete mockery of the girl-pants and mascara-loving fashion zombies who have overrun the underground scene in recent years, and it rocks pretty thoroughly while doing so. If passion means more to you than fashion, consider giving this a shot.

But for every memorable moment Dead Under Decor creates, a dozen bland an uninspired moments follow. The band took whatever shred of originality they had and drowned it in a sea of forgettable riffs and typical lyrics. "This will tear you apart! This will break you down!") All in all, if you're looking for some bland, tired metalcore, this is the place to start. Dead Under Decor insists upon giving you boring track after boring track.

The Bleeding is the fourth studio album by American death metal band Cannibal Corpse, released in 1994 through Metal Blade Records. It is the last album featuring singer and founding member Chris Barnes and is the first album featuring guitarist Rob Barrett. According to Soundscan numbers, The Bleeding is the fifth top-selling death metal LP in the United States, amassing over 98,300 copies sold. The Bleeding is also Cannibal Corpse's most successful album to date.

About Bleeding Kansas. Formed in 2001, Bleeding Kansas hails from Burbank, CA, and comprises vocalist Ben March, guitarist David Watrous, bassist Jeremiah Bignell, and drummer Daniel Pouliot. Inspired by the early-2000s convergence of hardcore, emo, screamo, and metal, the quartet recorded their first EP with the help of scene acquaintance Kurt Ballou (of Converge), then followed it with a full album, entitled Dead Under Decor, in 2006.
