Mother Love Bone (also known as Stardog Champion) is a compilation album by the American rock band Mother Love Bone. It was released on September 22, 1992, through Stardog/Mercury Records. The album contains material from the EP Shine (1989) and the album Apple (1990). It was released by PolyGram subsidiary Stardog/Mercury Records after the band dissolved due to the death of vocalist Andrew Wood. The album charted at number 77 on the Billboard 200 album chart in 1992.

Shine is the debut EP by the American rock band Mother Love Bone. It was released on March 20, 1989 through Stardog/Mercury Records. This whole release was later reissued on the Mother Love Bone (also known as Stardog Champion) compilation album in 1992, with the exception of the hidden track "Zanzibar" which can only be found on this EP.

Mother Love Bone's first EP. With the massive success of 1991 albums, Pearl Jam's 'Ten' and Nirvana's 'Nevermind', alternative grunge rock from Seattle ruled supreme. However, the reality was that this genre of music had been around for a great deal longer. One of these earlier bands was Mother Love Bone. The work by Mother Love Bone in their short-lived existance is phenominal. The fact that this band was only able to record one full length album is such a pity - they had everything in terms of style, musical genius and attitude. The bands sound is somewhere between that of glam styled 80's metal and that of 90's alternative rock; it's a unique fusion. As an important point though, it must be stressed that eventhough Pearl Jam came about from this band, both band's sound VERY VERY different.

For newcomers, though, this collection is all that is needed, compiling as it does the full contents of both Shine and Apple into one package. The second disc only contains the Shine take of "Capricorn Sister" and "Lady Godiva Blues" itself; given the presence of numerous demos on bootlegs, including a version of Argent's "Hold Your Head Up," it seems a lot more could have been added
