Take Me Home And Make Me Like It is a raw document of one of the pivotal moments in Alex Chilton’s career. It features previously unreleased rehearsals and alternate takes that tell the story of a troubled recording process that nevertheless produced intensely unique music. Notes by Alex Chilton and Jon Tiven. Pressed on 180g vinyl.

Alex Chilton" by American rock band The Replacements on their album Pleased to Meet Me, on which Chilton was a guest musician playing guitar on the song "Can't Hardly Wait". With 1987's High Priest, Chilton released his first full-length LP in eight years, for which he served as producer and wrote four new songs. Original Ork release included "Free Again", "The Singer Not The Song", "Take Me Home & Make Me Like It", "All The Time", and "Summertime Blues". Bangkok", "Can't Seem to Make You Mine" – (Fun, 1978). Product details. This isn't really an Alex Chilton album, but rather a peek into a not-so-successful attmept at trying to get something together to make a record. Obviously, Chilton is not at his sharpest, and doesn't have enough proper songs to do an album project. So what you get is some musicians probably drinking, injesting illegal substances, and having some fun. It doesn't sound like anyone is taking this too seriously. It sounds like a bootleg. Also, you can certainly tell some overdubbing has been done, but I've heard worse patch jobs.

Like Flies on Sherbert is the first solo album released by American pop rock musician Alex Chilton. He had previously recorded a collection of songs in 1969 and 1970, ultimately titled 1970, but this was not released until 1996. Released in 1979, Like Flies on Sherbert was recorded at two Memphis studios, Phillips Recording and Ardent Studios, in 1978 and 1979. Chilton had previously been a member of the Box Tops and Big Star.

Complete your Alex Chilton collection. Neal Haggerty would make a paltry living off this sound a decade later with Royal Trux, yet none of this is important. The frank honesty and temporal realizations Chilton exhibits comes through loud and clear . It's a mess and I like it. Ditto "Girl After Girl", another drunken spree in which we find the intoxicated Alex looking for love in all the wrong places. It's a salacious take on Troy Shondell's song. Drunken paranoia can be found on Chilton's "My Rival". This guy is just NOT happy here. I've Had It" is an inebriated mess of an Orbison song. It's hard to take - must sound better if you're drunk.

Alex Chilton’s mid-1990s cover of the R&B novelty hit What’s Your Sign Girl opens with the once and future Big Star singer-songwriter playing a loosey-goosey lounge-pop guitar lick in clear defiance of the professionally tight rhythm section. The moment is gorgeously goofy, like Pavement covering Steve & Eydie, but then the vocals come in. Capricorn, Sagittarius, Aquarius, Pisces, Gemini, Aries, Chilton sings, trying his damnedest to make each astrological mouthful sound as melodious as they did on Danny Pearson’s 1978 original

This may be an 'interesting' release but it is also extremely misleading, and deliberately so. It is a cynical manipulation of the truth in so far as these are NOT alternate takes and there is nothing here that has not already been released on Bachs Bottom - in fact all that has been done is that John Tiven has stripped away some of the multi-tracks to make the songs sound more like solo, or different versions. OK, they may sound great, but that's not the point, the whole album is essentially a con.
