Cryptic Wintermoon was founded 1993. After the release of the demotape Voyage dans la lune, the MCD Cryptic Wintermoon and the split-EP Franconian frost,. Cryptic Wintermoon signed a deal with Ars Metalli in December 1998 and recorded the first album "The Age Of Cataclysm" which contained eleven songs with 60 minutes playing time. After the release, the album got best press.
