The Autumn Stone is a posthumous retrospective double album, and the second compilation album released in the UK by Small Faces in 1969 on the Immediate label. The double album contains most of the Small Faces' Immediate and Decca original 7" single releases, together with live recordings from a concert at Newcastle City Hall and previously unreleased material, some of which was possibly intended for the band's projected but unrealised fourth LP, 1862.

Small Faces is the eponymous second studio album by the Small Faces, released in 1967. The album was their first for Immediate Records after leaving Decca. It peaked at number 12 in the UK Album Chart. The band's debut album, released on Decca in 1966, is also entitled Small Faces.

The Autumn Stone was the only double LP in the history of Immediate Records, and it came out as the company was entering its death throes, a desperate effort to cash in on the library of tapes of the Small Faces. When lead singer Steve Marriott quit in the waning days of 1968, the group had been midway into recording a new album that would have been its third for the label and a follow-up to 1968's popular Ogden's Nut Gone Flake. The Small Faces’ career is unique in rock and roll, occurring in two stages that saw a partial realignment in personnel and pronounced shift in style. They began as the Small Faces, a band of mod rockers who embraced soul and psychedelia in the latter half of the Sixties. Then they became the Faces, a rollicking band of pub-rockers who barnstormed their way through the first half of the Seventies. The change occurred in 1969, when singer/guitarist Steve Marriott (who had left to form Humble Pie) was replaced by two new members, vocalist Rod Stewart and guitarist Ron Wood  . It takes two. Two bands that is. The (Small) Faces gave rock the best of both worlds with their original incarnation as mod hipsters and eventual transformation to raucously joyous boogie-blues rockers.

Small Faces were an English rock band from East London. The group was founded in 1965 by members Steve Marriott, Ronnie Lane, Kenney Jones, and Jimmy Winston, although by 1966 Winston was replaced by Ian McLagan as the band's keyboardist. The band is remembered as one of the most acclaimed and influential mod groups of the 1960s with memorable hit songs such as "Itchycoo Park", "Lazy Sunday", "All or Nothing", and "Tin Soldier", as well as their concept album Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake.

Album There Are But Four Small Faces. I am a little tin soldier That wants to jump into your fire You are a look in your eye A dream passing by in the sky. I don't understand And all I need is treat me like a man 'Cause I ain't no child Take me like I am. I got to know that I belong to you Do anything that you want me to Sing any song that you want me to sing to you. I don't need no aggravation I just got to make you I just got to make you my occupation
