The Mommyheads (Adam Elk, Michael Holt, Dan Fisherman, Jason McNair) are an indie-pop band formed in Brooklyn in 1987 by Adam Cohen (now Adam Elk). They developed a cult following across North America through extensive touring in the 1990's. They broke up in 1998 after bing signed and later dropped by Geffen Records. They reformed in 2008. Soundtrack to the World's End is their eleventh album.

Starting in New York City as the brainchild of singer Adam Cohen (name later changed to Adam Elk), the band produced a string of quirky and highly inventive releases on various independent labels - most notably Simple Machines. Their music has been compared to XTC. They relocated to San Francisco in 1990.
