Tommy is a soundtrack album by The Who with contributions from numerous artists. The soundtrack was used in the 1975 Tommy film that was based on the original album that was released by The Who in 1969. Pete Townshend oversaw the production of this double-LP recording that returned the music to its rock roots, and on which the unrecorded orchestral arrangements he had envisaged for the original Tommy LP were realised by the extensive use of synthesiser.

The album served as a melting pot for guitarist Pete Townhend’s ideas about sex, family, spirituality and hero worship. Featuring Oliver Reed. Producers Kit Lambert & Pete Townshend. Writers John Entwistle, Keith Moon, Mose Allison & 2 more.

The album kicked The Who into the elite and defined Roger Daltrey as rock god at the front of the quality band. Benjamin Kelk: This is an essential for any classic rock fan! Of The Who's rock operas, this one has a stronger story. I always find the narrative easier to follow than the narrative in Quadrophenia. While Tommy isn't perfect, it's still THE blueprint on how to do rock operas and concept albums. I'm always finding something else to love about this album with every listen
