I was hooked on Vintersorg, and along with many others awaited with nervous anticipation for the release of their 2011 release - Jordpuls. I made it my mission to seek this album out and enjoy the latest release from Mr. V and company. I was both amazed and shocked to find an album that is very devoid of that epic, archaic feeling, far from his original dream of the Otyg-years, with almost no playability and nothing strange about it. I try not to be a purist and like new material as much as the old material, but I have no excuse for this album.
Jordpuls ("Pulse of the Earth") is the seventh full-length album by Swedish folk metal band Vintersorg. As with the previous album Solens rötter, the lyrics are all in Swedish. This is the first of a planned four-album concept series based on the elements. Mattias Marklund - lead and rhythm guitars.
The seventh album 'Jordpuls' was described to me as an album that takes the band further back to their roots, but still greatly evident is the strong presence of clean vocal harmonies. I cannot wholeheartedly recommend 'Jordpuls' as a listen, due to the fact that Vintersorg has disappointed the fan in me with this one. Although it scarcely compares to the last couple of albums they have released, 'Jordpuls' does retain some of the things that had me love the project to begin with, so I'm not left entirely discouraged.
