A step up that LVL UP have managed with ease. Newly signed to Sub Pop Records, New Yorkers LVL UP have lived up to their name on their third album ‘Return To Love’. They’re a band who have been making waves in underground scenes for a few years now but this album represents their boldest and most definitive statement yet. LVL UP make traditional indie rock rooted in jagged melodies and ragged, crunching guitars but there’s a diversity and melodic sharpness at work here that comes from all four members writing background

Return to Love sees LVL UP improving on their already successful formula – taking their layered, fuzzed-out, 90’s-inspired guitar-rock to the next level. Pun not intended, but take it as you wish. On the brisk, toe-tapping album opener, ‘Hidden Driver,’ guitarist/singer Dave Benton ruminates on God and the fall of man. It sounds heavy for an album opener, but it’s so infectious that it kind of doesn’t matter. Unlike when they were writing their sophomore album, Hoodwink'd, in college at SUNY Purchase, failed relationships are not the focus of these songs

Tracklist: 1. Hidden Driver 2. Blur 3. She Sustains Us 4. Spirit Was 5. Pain 6. The Closing Door 7. Five Men on the Ridge 8. Cut from the Vine 9. I 10. Naked in the River with the Creator. Hidden Driver, the opening track of LVL UP’s third album and Sub Pop debut Return to Love, never stops moving.

LVL UP - guitarists Mike Caridi and Dave Benton, bassist Nick Corbo, and drummer Greg Rutkin - is a true collaboration, a band that takes the stylistically distinct ideas of four members and brings them togeth- er into something new. Caridi, Benton, and Corbo write and sing equally, bringing their work to the group to be fully realized, resulting in an album built on different perspectives but a common drive. They instead released that album, Space Brothers, as one band, and Rutkin joined shortly afterwards for the group’s first show. Smith left the band for personal reasons just before the release of second album Hoodwink’d, a joint release on Caridi and Benton’s label Double Double Whammy and Exploding in Sound. Also part of that university community was Return to Love’s producer Mike Ditrio, who mixed LVL UP’s previous records and was basically a fifth member of the band, says Corbo.

LVL UP have also announced a Fall tour, that includes dates with Bear vs Shark, Alex G and Eskimeaux. More about LVL UP, by Evie Nagy: Hidden Driver, the opening track of LVL UP’s third album and Sub Pop debut Return to Love, never stops moving

Either it was a misprint on the cover or you got the one linked below! https://www.discogs.com/LVL-UP-Return-To-Love/release/9198905

Sub Pop often do different colour variants of the loser editions for the European market. I bought the purple version in an independent record store in the UK, so I'm assuming this is the European version?
