Excellent compilation of some of Aldemaro's lesser-known (though still strong) works. While none of the tracks are unique to this release, the pressing blows out the other available LPs and even some of the remaster/reissue CDs by Producciones León, especially for side C, which sounds extraordinarily muffled on other pressings, and remarkably clear here. Amazing job from Grupo Unión on commissioning the pressing, though who actually did it is unclear. The insert is nigh-impenetrable rambling verbiage of the sort familiar to anyone who has read opinion pieces or art/music critiques in Venezuelan magazines, though the writer is occasionally sufficiently lucid amidst a sea of quotes and anecdotes to give useful and fresh information about Aldemaro himself. The pictures are a nice touch, and includes rare newspaper clippings of young "Al Romero" in New York, well before his Dinner in Caracas debut. Unfortunately, the notes don't even make a passing mention to his Onda Nueva and the phenomenon that is the team of him and "El Pavo" Frank Hernández, though pictures are included even of the ad for his release of Onda Nueva in English.Overall, a great compilation, executed even better than those that would come out years later on digital formats. Highly recommended if you're a fan of Aldemaro's work and can somehow get a hold of it.
